Renzo Dionigi

He was born in Milan in 1940, surgeon of recognized international stature, he’s professor emeritus of General Surgery at University of Insubria.
He’s Honorary Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons in Edimburgo and of American Surgical Association, and Honorary Director of Dipartimento di Chirurgia Epato-Bilio-Pancreatica of the Tongji Medical University at Wuhan, Cina. Member of the Istituto Lombardo Accademia di Scienze e Lettere, he has been the rector of University of Insubria from 1998 to 2012. Member of the National Commitee of Bioethics (2002-2005) and of the Italian Health Council (2003-2006), in 2003 he has received the Invernizzi national prize for the medicine.
He’s president of dell’International Research Center for Local Histories and Cultural Diversities and director of Studi Superiori of Insubria Gerolamo Cardano.
He has done more than 18.000 surgeries. He’s author of more than 700 scientific publications, of a Surgery treatise, now at its 5th editions, of other five monograph on surgery arguments ad of some historical essays, among witch: I segni dei lapicidi (1996), SS. In 1971 he married Janet, with who he had three children, , Adriana, Gianlorenzo e Marta. Now, he’s grandfather of four grandchildren, Eleonora, Tommaso, Leonardo e Eva. He loves jazz and classical music, in his free time he takes up naturalistic photography. He lives in Varese, but with Janet, they spend four months each year in Boston where he study, write, read, listen to music and go to the stadium to see the Patriots and the Red Sox and to enjoy the beautiful New England nature.
