Non c’è alcun aspetto dello sviluppo scientifico,
tecnologico, economico e culturale della società contemporanea che possa fare a
meno della matematica: chimica, fisica, ingegneria, informatica, biologia,
economia, scienze sociali, medicina utilizzano stabilmente strumenti matematici
spesso molto evoluti e sofisticati.
Il volume, che riprende due importanti cicli di conferenze organizzati dall’Accademia
Toscana di Scienze e Lettere «La Colombaria» tra il 2018 e il 2022, mostra come
la conoscenza della realtà nei suoi aspetti quantitativi sia una base
irrinunciabile per il progresso della società.
There is no aspect of the scientific, technological, economic and cultural development of contemporary society that can do without mathematics: chemistry, physics, engineering, computer science, biology, economics, social sciences, medicine use stable mathematical tools, often very evolved and sophisticated.
