Art historian, is Head of the World Heritage and UNESCO relationship Office of the Municipality of Florence since 2005 and site manager of the UNESCO World Heritage site “Historic Centre of Florence”. He is also the Scientific Coordinator of the Italian World Heritage Association (Associazione Beni Italiani Patrimonio Mondiale) since 2009 and member of the Scientific Committee of «Casa Buonarroti» in Florence. Moreover, Carlo Francini is member of the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno and member of the ICOMOS Italy board from 2012 to 2016.
