Tedesco, nato in Polonia dove la famiglia ha vissuto per
secoli, ha studiato pittura, storia dell’arte, filosofia; terminando poi gli
studi (nel 1972) all’Accademia dell’Arte a Düssenldorf in Germania. Ha vissuto
come libero professionista pittore, letterato e storico dell’arte, dal 1973 al
1990 a Firenze. Detlef Weiss è conoscitore della pittura del Seicento e del
tardo Ottocento. Ha scoperto dopo una lunga ricerca un importante quadro di
Jacob Jordaens, l’unica opera del pittore fiammingo in una chiesa tedesca. Il
professore Detlef Weiss è socio dell’Accademia delle Arti del Disegno di
Firenze e ha ideato l’Accademia Metafisica quando scrisse il catalogo e
curò la mostra Marcello Tommasi, un classico contemporaneo, Berlino 2002.

Poland where him family
lived for centuries, Detlef Weiss studied painting, art history,
philosophy; then finishing his studies (in 1972) at the Academy of Art in
Düssenldorf, Germany. He lived as a freelance painter, writer and art historian
from 1973 to 1990 in Florence. Detlef Weiss is an expert on seventeenth and
late nineteenth century painting. After embarking on a long search, he discovered an important
painting by Jacob Jordaens, the only work by the Flemish painter in a German
church. Professor Detlef Weiss is a member of the Academy of Drawing Arts in
Florence and created the Metaphysical Academy when he wrote the catalog and
curated the exhibition Marcello Tommasi, a contemporary classic, Berlin 2002.
