Pieter Heesen

Pieter Heesen ha conseguito il PhD in Archeologia Classica all’Università degli Studi di Amsterdam e attualmente lavora come studioso indipendente, conducendo ricerche sulla ceramica attica a figure nere. È autore dei volumi The J.L. Theodor Collection of Attic Black-Figure Vases (1996) e Athenian Little-Master Cups (2011), ha contribuito al fascicolo del Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum relativo alle coppe attiche a figure nere dell’Allard Pierson Museum (CVA Amsterdam 2, 1996) e ha pubblicato articoli sulle iscrizioni potorie e su quelle nonsense nelle coppe ateniesi dei Piccoli Maestri (2006 e 2016), oltre che sulle peculiarità delle coppe dei Piccoli Maestri rinvenute nell’Italia centrale (2009). I suoi interessi di ricerca vertono al momento sulle generazioni più tarde dei “Piccoli Maestri”, sulle band-cups con animali e su altri tipi di coppe e (cup-)skyphoi ateniesi a figure nere.

Pieter Heesen earned his PhD in Classical Archaeology from the University of Amsterdam and works as an independent researcher of Athenian black-figure pottery. He is author of The J.L. Theodor Collection of Attic Black-Figure Vases (1996) and Athenian Little-Master Cups (2011). He has also contributed to the Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum volume on Attic black-figured drinking cups in the Allard Pierson Museum (CVA Amsterdam 2, 1996) and published articles on drinking inscriptions and nonsense inscriptions on Athenian Little-master cups (2006 and 2016), and on the peculiarities of Athenian Little-master cups found in central Italy (2009). His current research focuses on the later generations of ‘Little-masters’, on animal band-cups, and on other types of Athenian black-figured cups and (cup-)skyphoi.
