A writer and critic, Aldo Rosselli was born in Florence in 1934. The son of the historian and anti-Fascist activist Nello Rosselli, he has also lived in Switzerland, England and the United States. He died in Rome in 2013.
In 1956, he co-founded, together with Roberto Lerici, the Lerici publishing house, of which he was also editor-in-chief. An expert in American literature and contributing editor of RAI (Italian State Television and Radio), he made his literary debut with the novel Il megalomane (Vallecchi, 1964), which was followed by numerous works in which the literary invention is often the result of an autobiographical analysis. Amongst these, Professione: mitomane (Vallecchi, 1971), the collection of short stories Episodi di guerriglia urbana (Marsilio, 1972), the family album La famiglia Rosselli (Bompiani, 1983), Il naufragio dell’Andrea Doria (Bompiani, 1987), L’apparizione di Elsie (Theoria, 1989), La mia America e la tua (Theoria, 1995). He was shortlisted for the Premio Strega in 1971 and 1984.
