Ligurian by birth, Florentine by love: she has established her first residence in Florence despite the commitments that continue to keep her firmly attached to Liguria. Such as the Lerici Pea Poetry Prize, which Maria Grazia Beverini Del Santo skilfully 'took over' and to which she continues to devote part of her time. After graduating in Classics from the University of Pisa with a gold medal in 1969, discussing a thesis on Egyptology with Prof. Edda Bresciani, she held the chair for the teaching of Latin and Greek at the Lorenzo Costa High School in La Spezia until 1997, a period during which she was the contact person with the Universities of Pisa and Genoa for university orientation.

Having moved to Florence in 1998, since 2002 she has been president of the International Lyceum Club of Florence, Italy's first women's cultural association - and fourth in the world - which celebrated 100 years since its foundation on 5 April 2008. In this capacity, through the international relations that characterise the spirit of the association, she has organised numerous events and conferences on the theme of equal opportunities in Italy and the world. A member of the Pen Club, since 2003 she has been President of the Fondazione il Fiore in Bellosguardo (Florence), created with the aim of hosting visiting poets from all over the world and organising meetings and conferences there: to date, more than 250 poets and scholars from 38 countries have passed through the Foundation.
